When smoke gets in your eyes

I have a love/hate relationship with Sunday. I love the laid back (unless you are my husband) easygoing Sunday. I hate the fact that the weekend is over. Today we spent some time just hanging out and watching tv and then SH and I went to work for one of his little old ladies. I told DD to come and get me before dark and she did. SH hates it when I leave him alone to do it all but I hate to be gone all day on my day off.
I had told SH that when I got home I would start a fire in the woodburner to keep the house from getting too chilly tonight. I tried....I really did, but something is wrong with the chimney. I got my fire started but absolutely NONE of the smoke would go up the chimney. It came out of every little crack in the stove and what made it to the chimney came back out around the pipe. Right now I am looking at my computer screen through a haze....a pretty thick haze. I opened the basement door and put a fan in but its on the other end of the basement and most of the smoke wants to go straight up, which is where the stairs are. I'm glad I decided to start the fire before I took a shower. I smell like my volunteer firefighter dad always does when he came home from house fires. I put the fire out in the woodburner, but that just makes more smoke.
I'm pretty sure the massive amounts of rain we have had for the last month is to blame. I hope that is what is to blame.....and not some animal in the chimney.

Awww, man, I don't even want to think about what may have taken up residence in your chimney! Just, please, be careful...we want to keep all fires where they're supposed to be--in the woodburner, in our pants, in the fireplace, etc.--BWAHAHAHAHA!

You should see the HEAVY, WET, HUGE-FLAKED snow that is blizzarding down around my house. It is so freakin' beautemous and I could just sit and watch it and think about the awesome-ness that is nature IF THIS WAS FREAKIN' DECEMBER. Grrrrr...

I think SH needs a leeeeetle reminder that he is probably the ONLY PERSON ON THE FACE OF THE EARTH who WANTS to work 27 hours a day, 6 days a week--and then 28 hours on the 7th day. And if he persists in doing that? Yeah. He just might be doing it alone. BWAHAHAHAHA!
