I was laying in bed last night thinking about the "Good ole days." Remember those days when you were young and had no real worries but always thought the world was going to end because of some boy or something stupid? I remember being 16 and meeting my future DH and thinking "uh...no way, too old." It took me months of denying my feelings for him and him deciding to give up on me before I realized he was the one for me. Twenty-one years and I am still so glad I finally came to my senses.
I remember my senior band party. My band director had a party in his basement every year for senior band members. He rented movies and ordered pizzas and it was for Senior band members only. Picture me and my friends D and T laying in the floor watching Texas Chainsaw massacre and we notice something outside the basement window. It's about 10 o'clock at night and something is moving around outside the window. After 30 seconds of teenage girl screams I realize it is my future DH and his best friend spying on us in the dark. I almost didn't believe it was him because he had never ever been jealous or checked up on me, and he never has since, but I guess he and his friend talked themselves into thinking I may be up to something. Instead he finds me and 2 other girls laying in the floor watching movies. Most of the seniors were girls and the few boys there were not my type........My DH is the only type for me ;-)

puppy update

Ok the puppies were doing great and then last night it was poopathon in the box. The poor things are so weak and tired they don't have the energy to eat. I got up three times last night to feed them and each time the box had lots of poo in it. I feel so sorry for the little things. I talked to the vet and she said just keep doing what I am and hope for the best because if I bring them in to her it will probably cost hundreds of dollars per pup for tests and treatment and I just can't do that. I wish I could but I can't. So instead I will sit up and hope I can keep at least some of them alive. I am feeding them between feedings with replacement milk mixed with part water and part pedialite.. I am also giving them kaopectate. I haven't noticed a lot of difference yet. I have some doggy antibiotics in the fridge I can try if they get any worse but I am afraid that will make the potty matters worse......Makes you feel sorta helpless.

How's that for a stressed out sounding title? Got up this morning and the other teenage boy that lives here has obviously made an enemy somewhere...someone busted out his back window and flattened two of his tires. Now don't get me wrong...this boy can get on my last nerve with is laziness, but he is working and saving every penny to go to some workshop/school he wants to go to. His ex-girlfriend is hanging around and she has a new boyfriend so I am figuring thats where this came from. He and I are the only ones home so I don't know what to do. I can't fix flat tires too easily. His insurance has a 1000.00 deductable so that is surely out. He called the local sheriff who can't do anything but maybe file a report. They won't even come out and look. You gotta love em...

Finally we have puppies! Thursday we had 7 puppies, but one died. We also found out that Koko (the momma) hates puppies. After she had them she tried to kill and bury each puppy. Due to the fact she was such a nervous momma we ended up taking her to the vet hospital and letting a vet help her deliver. I spent a few days bottle feeding but little by little she is taking over the feeding part. I just have to lay her down and put the puppies where they belong and stay close by. She still won't have anything to do with them other than that, but that is a big big help.

Winter blahs

I seem to be stuck in the winter blah thing a little. I don't think it is as bad as it has been in the past. Our forecast calls for ice ice baby. Then snow on top of the ice. We live in a rural area with a rural electric company and ice means no electric. The last time we had an ice storm (which was on a Presidents day weekend 4 or 5 years ago) we lost electricity for 8 days. I am a country girl and being without electricity for a couple of days does not bother me. I can heat water for baths and dishes, cook on a wood stove or outdoor grill, we heat with electric, gas and wood so we always have heat. We have a bunch of cards, board games and puzzles put up for just an occasion such as this, but man it would be rough going without checking on my caringbridge kids and blog buddies ;-) I'm hoping that the news coming on in 5 minutes will be a little better. They were saying at first 2 inches of ice, then someone told me they changed it to half an inch of ice, which would be ok. I think our electric lines could handle half an inch. I am charging flashlights just in case.
My poor little doggy is still dragging around waiting on her puppies. She is 53 days pregnant and should have them next weekend or early next week. I can not imagine her walking around that long. She tried to jump up on the couch to cuddle with me and she has to wiggle back and forth 5 or 6 times to get enough momentum up to get up on the couch. Well I think I am going to go rub her belly a little while, which seems to help her relax because she always falls asleep when I do and then clean the dining room carpet.

my little doggy

My poor little doggy. I love her to death but she is suffering from an ill advised few minutes with the neighbors jack russell terrier. She is so miserable and should be having her puppies within 7 to 10 days.( I know I know get her fixed and I will soon.) She is so so tired and such a baby she just wants me to hold her and rub her tummy. Here is a little picture of her a few days ago and trust me she has grown since then.......I feel like I'm putting up puppy porn.....

February blues

Well today we had sunshine.......and a high temp of 12 degrees. Right now it is 1 degree and should be 4 or 5 degrees lower by the time I have to go to work in the morning. I know we are luckier than many people in the world temperature wise right now but whats this thing for if I can't complain a little.
I took my hubby to the doctor today and he got a weeks worth of steroids and antibiotics to help him kick this thing he is spreading around. I think I am getting over mine all by myself.
Some genius decided that Ohio's school attendance week would be this week. Who in their right mind would test the attendance of all of Ohio's schools for the entire school year in February. Sometimes I wish they would think things through a little better.

Winter sucks!

Ok, maybe that was a little too much. I like a little bit of winter and I was complaining about the lack of winter a few weeks ago when it was in the 60's. Now I am tired of it. My husband has once again brought home some horrible virus/flu/cold thing that he is sharing with me. I do feel sorry for him, he has had a high temperature and so much congestion and coughing for 4 or 5 days now that he can't rest and chills all the time. I am pretty sure he has pneumonia, but getting him to the doctor is a chore, he hasn't missed a minute of work since he has been sick. I , on the other hand, took a flu shot and I am now coughing and chilling a little. I don't feel anywhere as bad as he does, but I figure it is on the way. I am hoping that maybe, just maybe my flu shot will protect me enough that I will only have a minor case of whatever, but that would be too easy...
Ok Kim and anyone else that happens to accidentally find this site....my daughter bought 2 dresses for homecoming so which do you like best. Remember she will be properly coiffed and made up.
